California is an at-will state, but at-will does not mean an employer can fire you for any reason. Terminations are unlawful when they violate:

– Public policy (Tameny claims)
– The Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA) or Title VII
– The Labor Code’s whistleblower and retaliation provisions (§§ 1102.5, 6310, 232.5)
– CFRA, FMLA, or pregnancy disability leave protections
– An employment contract or implied-in-fact agreement

If you believe you were fired in retaliation for reporting illegal conduct, for taking protected leave, or because of a protected characteristic, we can evaluate the strength of your claims.
